From the Facebook, for the records:

10 Albums Challenge Day 3… supposed to be “… an album cover that greatly influenced your taste in music. No explanations, no reviews …” But. Come on. This is about the Master of the Telecaster!

After falling into SRV I traded in all my heavy metal records for a blues collection – Aretha, the Kings, T-Birds, Ry Cooder (off Crossroads soundtrack), the Hendrix, Clapton, etc, etc …. From the initial trade-in I landed this “new” record, “Showdown. And that led me down a major Albert Collins trajectory. One of the first club concerts I ever went to was Albert Collins at Barrymore’s in Ottawa. My Dad got tickets. I was 14 or so. Couldn’t legally get into the club. Doorman wasn’t having it, My Dad spoke to the manager, explained the situation: I’m a nuts fan, I had to get it. Somehow, my Dad convinced them and we went in. Holy shit, AC Reed played a solo with two horns at once! Johnny B Gayden is more monstrous in person! Albert had a 100 foot guitar cable and walked out in the audience ripping the entire time! Mind blown. To cap it off, my Dad got me back stage to meet a few of the band members and shake some hands.
